Terms of service
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Welcome to Squarefoot Leather. We are a Singapore-based leathercraft studio dedicated to sustainable craftsmanship, human-centered design, and giving excess leather hides from manufacturing a second life.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of squarefootleather.com and any purchases, custom commissions, or workshop experiences booked with Squarefoot Leather Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202644123C), located at 39 Jalan Pemimpin, #04-03(A) Tailee Industrial Building, Singapore 577182 ("Squarefoot Leather", "we", "us", or "our").
By browsing our website, purchasing our handcrafted goods, or registering for our studio workshops, you agree to these Terms. Please read them alongside our Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, and Privacy Policy, which together form your agreement with us.
If you have questions about these Terms, reach out to us at support@squarefootleather.com. We will reply within 5 working days.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
- Age of purchase: You must be at least 18 years old to make a purchase or complete a workshop booking on our website, and you must possess legal authority to use your chosen payment method.
- Corporate representatives: If you place an order on behalf of an enterprise, educational institution, or organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that entity to these Terms.
- Family and youth participation: While payments must be made by an adult aged 18 and above, participants under 18 years of age are warmly welcomed to attend our studio workshops under the booking and supervision of an adult parent or guardian.
- Account integrity: If you create an account on our platform, you agree to provide truthful and accurate information and to safeguard your login details. Please notify us immediately at support@squarefootleather.com if you suspect unauthorized activity on your account.
2. Handcrafted Goods, Leather Characteristics & Personalisation
- Authentic leather materials: We craft our products using full-grain, vegetable-tanned leathers sourced responsibly. Genuine leather is a natural, organic material. Subtle surface marks, natural wrinkles, grain variations, and distinct tone nuances are inherent qualities of real hides, celebrating the individuality of every piece.
- Aging and patina: Vegetable-tanned leather naturally evolves, softens, and deepens in shade with regular use, exposure to sunlight, and contact with natural oils. This development of patina is a hallmark of premium leathercraft and is not a material defect.
- Colour rendering: While we photograph our goods under lighting to depict true leather tones as accurately as possible, slight variations may occur due to your monitor or screen display settings.
- Personalisation approvals: For personalised goods (such as name debossing, initials, and stamped monograms), the characters and text submitted during checkout serve as your final confirmation. For bespoke commissions, our artisans will submit design proofs for your written approval prior to commencing production. Changes requested after approval are subject to workshop feasibility and may involve revised completion timelines.
3. Pricing, Currency & Payment Terms
- Currency: All prices displayed on our website and quotes are in Singapore Dollars (SGD).
- Price transparency: Standard delivery fees (or free delivery qualifications for orders $150 and above) and any optional personalisation additions are clearly itemised before you confirm payment.
- Payment methods: We accept payments through the secure methods displayed at checkout (including major credit/debit cards processed through our secure gateway and Singapore PayNow). Payment is collected in full upon order submission unless a written corporate schedule specifies phased milestones.
- Pricing adjustments: If a technical error results in an incorrect price being displayed, we will notify you promptly. You may choose to confirm the order at the correct price or cancel the order for an immediate full refund within 5 working days.
4. Order Confirmation & Contract Formation
- Order submission: When you place an order through squarefootleather.com, you are making an offer to purchase the specified items.
- Order acceptance: We will send an initial automated acknowledgment confirming receipt of your order details. Formal Order Acceptance occurs when we send you an order confirmation email confirming dispatch preparation or workshop seat allocation.
- Order cancellation by us: We reserve the right to decline or cancel an unfulfilled order due to genuine reasons such as unexpected hide unavailability, inability to authorize payment, suspicion of fraudulent activity, or logistical constraints. If we cancel your order, we will issue a full refund to your original payment method within 5 working days.
5. Shipping, Title & Risk of Loss
- Delivery jurisdiction: We currently ship exclusively within Singapore.
- Delivery terms: All delivery schedules, pickup options, and tracking procedures are governed by our Shipping and Delivery Policy. Estimated delivery for in-stock ready-made pieces is within 2 weeks, while personalised and custom pieces have differing complexity, and our team will provide specific timeline details after confirming your order.
- Title and risk: Title and ownership of ordered goods pass to you upon receipt of full payment. Risk of loss or damage transfers to you once the package has been delivered to your nominated delivery address by our courier or collected in person at our studio.
6. Returns, Exchanges & Workshop Bookings
All returns, exchanges, cancellations, defect remedies, and workshop rescheduling guidelines are governed by our Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policy:
- Ready-made items in original, unused condition may be exchanged within 7 calendar days of receipt.
- Personalised and bespoke pieces are made to order and are non-refundable once production commences.
- Workshop sessions may be rescheduled once for free with at least 3 days' (72 hours') notice. Cancellations made more than 3 days (72 hours) before the session receive a 100% refund; cancellations made between 72 and 24 hours before receive a 50% refund; cancellations made less than 24 hours before, and no-shows, are non-refundable.
- Approved refunds are offered and processed within 5 working days to the original payment method.
7. Studio Workshops & Pet-Friendly Space
Our workshops—hosted at Avant-Garde Art Space, 39 Jalan Pemimpin, #04-03(A) Tailee Industrial Building—are designed to make traditional leathercraft approachable, meditative, and memorable for everyone:
- Welcoming environment: All pets and children are welcome in our workshops! We believe creative crafting is a wonderful experience for families, friends, and pet companions alike.
- Safety & instructions: Because leathercraft involves sharp cutting blades, bevelers, rotary punches, heavy mallets, and edge-slicking tools, all participants must listen attentively to our instructors and follow all studio safety rules.
- Children: While children of all ages are welcome, minors under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a registered adult at all times during the session to ensure safe handling of tools.
- Pet owner responsibility: All pets are welcome. Pet owners are fully responsible for their pets, including supervising their behaviour, keeping them under appropriate control during workshop activities, and taking responsibility for any mess, disruption, or damage caused by their pets.
- Participant safety pause: If an individual's actions pose an immediate hazard to themselves, other guests, or our team, our artisans may pause their activity. We will provide an opportunity to correct the unsafe behaviour. If safety cannot be assured, we reserve the right to conclude their session without refund.
- Studio photography: We love capturing creative studio moments, but we respect your privacy. Identifiable photographs or videos will only be taken or shared with your verbal or written permission, and saying no will never impact your workshop experience.
8. Custom Artwork & Intellectual Property
- Customer-supplied content: If you provide graphics, corporate logos, text, or artwork for hot-stamping, debossing, or bespoke engraving, you confirm that you own or have obtained all necessary licenses and permissions to use that content. You retain all ownership rights in your submitted designs.
- Indemnity for customer designs: You agree to indemnify Squarefoot Leather against any third-party claims, liabilities, or expenses resulting from infringement of intellectual property rights arising from artwork or logos provided by you.
- Squarefoot Leather content: All text, photography, product designs, workshop curricula, branding, logos, graphics, and digital assets on squarefootleather.com are the exclusive intellectual property of Squarefoot Leather Pte. Ltd. or its licensors. You may not reproduce, adapt, or commercially exploit our content without prior written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
We take great care in handcrafting our products and facilitating our workshops with professional artisan skill.
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law
- Cap on liability: Squarefoot Leather's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to any product purchase, workshop booking, or use of our website—whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise—shall be strictly limited to the actual amount paid by you for the specific product or workshop session giving rise to the claim.
- Exclusion of indirect damages: Squarefoot Leather shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of profits, commercial interruption, loss of anticipated savings, or personal inconvenience, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
- Non-excludable liabilities: Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury resulting directly from our negligence, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Singapore laws, including non-excludable statutory protections under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003.
- Participant compliance: Squarefoot Leather is not liable for injuries or property damage resulting from a participant's failure to follow instructor safety directions or mishandling of studio tools.
10. Force Majeure (Events Beyond Reasonable Control)
Squarefoot Leather will not be held liable or responsible for any failure or delay in fulfilling our obligations where such failure results from events beyond our reasonable control. This includes severe acts of nature, severe storms, flooding, transport disruptions, carrier strikes, utility failures, pandemics, supplier shutdowns, or internet outages. In such circumstances, our obligations will be temporarily extended, and we will contact you to arrange an alternative completion date or provide a refund where items cannot be delivered.
11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
- Governing law: These Terms, our policies, and any order placed with us are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore.
- Direct resolution: If you experience any dissatisfaction or dispute regarding our goods, services, or workshops, we warmly invite you to contact us directly at support@squarefootleather.com. We are committed to working closely with you to resolve any issues fairly and amicably, and we will reply to all enquiries within 5 working days.
- Jurisdiction: In the event that a dispute cannot be amicably resolved through direct communication, the dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
12. Amendments & Severability
- Policy updates: We may periodically update these Terms to reflect operational improvements, changes in our craft offerings, or evolving legal standards. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Orders accepted prior to an amendment remain subject to the Terms in effect at the time of purchase.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
