2. How We Use your Information
We collect, use, and process your personal data for clear, legitimate craft and retail purposes:
- Order fulfillment: Processing payments, crafting custom pieces to your approved specifications, arranging courier delivery, and emailing order updates.
- Studio workshops: Managing workshop seat allocations, sending preparation reminders, and coordinating attendance.

- Business administration: Maintaining accurate transaction records to comply with Singapore accounting, tax, and legal requirements.
- Website security: Preventing fraudulent transactions, protecting our storefront, and maintaining system integrity.
- Optional marketing: Sending news on new leather collections, workshop masterclasses, and sustainable craft stories—only if you have explicitly given consent.
3. Disclosure & Service Partners
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We share only necessary information with trusted service partners who assist us in operating our business:
- Logistics & Courier Partners: SingPost, Ninja Van, and J&T Express receive recipient names, delivery addresses, and phone numbers to complete doorstep delivery within Singapore.
- Payment Gateways & Banking: Stripe processes card payments securely. For PayNow or bank transfers, our Singapore banking institutions process account-to-account settlements.
- Hosting & Web Infrastructure: Our website and database are hosted on secure servers provided by Hostinger.
- Embedded Media & Typography: Our website loads Google Fonts for design styling, and our homepage video is served via YouTube.
- Legal & Regulatory Authorities: Where strictly required by Singapore law, judicial orders, or regulatory authorities, we may disclose relevant records to comply with statutory duties.
4. Cookies & Website Storage
We take a minimalist, privacy-first approach to website tracking
- Essential cookies & local storage: Our site uses local storage strictly for essential shopping features, such as remembering items in your shopping bag and maintaining checkout sessions.
- No third-party advertising trackers: We do not run third-party advertising networks, remarketing trackers, or invasive data-broker scripts on our website.
- Browser controls: You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Please note that blocking essential storage may prevent core shopping functions (such as the cart drawer and checkout) from operating correctly.
5. Marketing Communications & your Choices
We believe your inbox should remain peaceful
- Opt-in only: We will only send you marketing or promotional emails if you have actively checked the newsletter opt-in box. The marketing box is never pre-checked by default.
- Easy unsubscribe: You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any newsletter or by emailing support@squarefootleather.com.
- Essential service messages: Withdrawing consent for promotional emails will not affect essential transactional messages regarding your orders, warranty verifications, or workshop reservations.
6. Children & Family Participation
All children and families are warmly welcomed at Squarefoot Leather!
- Booking requirement: Workshop bookings for participants under 18 years of age must be submitted by an adult parent or guardian.
- Data minimisation: We only collect participant names and the accompanying adult's contact details to manage the workshop session safely.
- Photography: We do not publish identifiable photographs or videos of any workshop guest (child or adult) without prior permission. Saying no to photography will never affect your participation.
7. Data Retention & Security
- Retention: We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to satisfy the purpose for which it was gathered, or as required by Singapore financial, tax, and corporate retention laws (typically 5 years for business and accounting records, or for the duration of our 10-year stitching warranty for bespoke items). When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
- Security: We maintain appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to prevent unauthorized access, collection, disclosure, copying, or alteration of your personal data.
